Frequently Asked Questions

1. “I am coming from out-of-town. Can you help me with the arrangements?”

We’d be more than happy to help you with your accommodations and travel plans. We have arranged special rates with three hotels quite close to Optimal Health Institute. You could also stay at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo and ride Chattanooga’s world famous free electric buses right to our door. Although the nearest two hotels are within walking distance, we would also be happy to help you arrange for a rental car during your stay.

2. “What is your payment policy?”

We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express, or you may pay by cash, check or money order if you prefer.

3. “Do you file insurance?”

At the present time we do not file your insurance claim for you. In order to keep the cost of our services to you as low as possible, we have limited our personnel to only those that are directly involved with your care. Additionally, many of the services we provide are not covered by insurance. Please note, our Medicare clients are not allowed to file claims with Medicare for our services. Some people use our information to try to file with their insurance companies for partial reimbursement. Please see our page on insurance for additional information.

4. “How long will it take for me to feel a difference?”

Although results of hormone modulation will vary from individual to individual, you will likely notice some improvements in the way you feel within two weeks. However, it does take your body some time to adjust to having the proper levels of hormones – most people experience a noticeable improvement in about three months. Additionally, if you choose to begin supplementing your diet with our nutriceuticals, it will take approximately three months to obtain optimum results.

5. “How long will I have to be on these therapies?”

Because these therapies are designed to supplement what your body is not producing on its own, you will need to continue your individualized therapies in order to have continuing results.

6. “What happens if I stop the program?”

If you choose to stop the program, you probably won’t notice any immediate differences. Just as it takes time for your body to build up to the proper levels of hormones and nutriceuticals, it will take some time for your body to again become depleted. Some people worry that if they stop the program they will begin to age at a faster rate. This is not true. You will simply return to your previous level of health, and you will continue to age at that rate.

7. “When should I start a program like this?”

We tend to be pretty rough on our bodies when we’re young – and for good reason. When we are in our teens and twenties, our bodies are pretty resilient – they can take a lot of abuse. Unfortunately, this ability begins to fade as we age. This is when we begin to notice those aches and pains, feeling more fatigued, and maybe even some problems with things like memory, attention, and concentration. Although it is never too early to start this kind of a program, if you have noticed some signs of aging, it’s probably time to get started. After all, why go even one more day not feeling the best you can feel?

8. “What should I tell my doctor about the program?”

After your day with us, we will provide you with a notebook with extensive information. This information will include the results of all of your testing (lab work, hearing test, bone density, neurocognitive assessment, etc.). We will also include any relevant diagnoses. The notebook will contain extensive information about the therapies prescribed, including research data and other educational material. We encourage you to share all of this information with your personal physician. Additionally, we would be happy to talk with your doctor if he or she has any questions.

9. “Will you be my primary care physician?”

Our work for you at the Optimal Health Institute should be considered a specialty service, much like an endocrinology or cardiology practice. Our sole focus is on helping you achieve optimal health, not to take the place of your primary care physician. We encourage you to continue seeing your physician on a regular basis.

10. “Why did you develop your own product line?”

Developing our own product line was the easiest way for us to achieve success in our program. We had initially planned on using other products, but we were concerned about being able to ensure that the quality and dosages are consistent and as high as they need to be for your maximum benefit. The only way to reassure ourselves was to have our own product line. Please see our supplements page for additional information.

11. “How do your prices compare to other similar programs?”

Our program prices are very competitive with other programs; in addition, we offer more comprehensive services. Many programs don’t include treadmill tests, neurocognitive assessments, or even hearing tests. Our time with you includes all of these in our basic package because we feel they are extremely important tools to determine your overall health. In addition, if you paid for all of these tests individually, your costs might come close to being twice as expensive as our fees.
